We are really excited to share with you all of the details of our Northern California wedding. Well, I should say that we WILL be very excited to share our wedding details with you, once we have them figured out ourselves.
Here is a little teaser of what we've got so far...
Joey's and my wedding will be held at the charming Historic Sand Rock Farm in Aptos, California. There will be plenty about Sand Rock Farm and why it is the wedding venue of our dreams later, but first let me tell you a little bit about Aptos. Now many of you on the Doran side, if you are anything like I was, will say, "Aptos, where?" or perhaps more appropriately, "Aptos, what? How do you even pronounce that??"
Rest assured, my dears, Aptos (pronounced app-toss) is a glorious little gem off the famous Highway 1 in Santa Cruz County, California. Just two hours south of San Francisco and forty-five minutes west of San Jose, Aptos (and it's more well-known neighbors, Pescadero, Santa Cruz, Capitola, and Carmel-By-The-Sea) is one of the most beautiful and historic areas of Northern California.
Let me set the scene. You wake up in the morning and take a walk on a soft and sandy beach, gazing at the expansive and magnificent Pacific Ocean. While you marvel at the cliffs, the wildlife, and perhaps even some surfers, you note how warm it is for late September. It must be that Indian Summer thing Northern Californians are always talking about. You break for lunch at a quaint eatery that serves up fresh and seasonal California cuisine and even treat yourself to a tongue-tingling glass of Pinot Noir that was produced at the winery just up the road. In the afternoon, you hike through a forest filled with 200-foot Redwood trees and ponder the fact that they have been keeping guard in that same spot for more than 1,000 years. At night, you tap your foot to the sounds of a local bluegrass band and enjoy the fresh catch of the day around a table with friends. Finally, you drift off to sleep rested, refreshed, and ready to experience it all again the next day. It is quite simply... heaven.
Wow... I almost drifted off in my own daydream there.

Needless to say, Aptos and the surrounding areas of the Central Coast are totally amazing and well worth a visit. We have so much more to share with you about the region, fun activities, and of course, our wedding, in the next nine months.
